• Meet Chi Wah and Paul

  Since 1985 Chi Wah Brown has been on a mission to change the beauty industry in Rochester, NY. Joining Aveda in 1988, Chi Wah found that her passion for hair and beauty could be supported by an organization that also felt that it was important to give back. In 1989 Chi Wah met her husband, Paul Brown, a musician from England who shared her passion for change and giving back to society. Together they opened their own Aveda Concept Salon in 1993. Since then they have made it their goal to change the Rochester Network; to provide this city with educated stylist and train each of their employees with the best advanced education they can offer. Chi Wah and Paul started an Apprenticeship program that started small and now has grown into one of their great accomplishments. They have also continued supporting local cosmetology schools by taking the time monthly to speak to the students about their love for the art of hair and raise the standards in the beauty industry. In 2001 they earned the title of the only Aveda Lifestyle Salon in Monroe County and were co-branded with the Aveda name. Chi Wah Aveda was also awarded twice by Salon Today Magazine as one of the Top 200 fastest growing salons in America. Chi Wah and Paul were then joined with their daughter Salena to help move the company forward. Salena completed beauty school and then joined the team to work along side her family. Salenas passion for hair and long time love for Aveda has helped them grow.
